This project was set on the water at Mermaid Beach, the Gold Coast!! It was the first of 2 projects completed for these amazing clients. It involved a complete renovation and refurnishing of the 4 bedroom apartment.
Rochele Interiors started with selections for tiles, lighting, paint colours, kitchen and bathroom finishes. Our interior design team selected a silver travertine tile which is complimented by a greyed off white for the painted walls. Loop pile woollen carpets in a neutral tone add a nice plush underfoot feel for the bedrooms.
VJ wall sheeting lines the walls of the non wet areas of the bathrooms and was also used as a feature wall in the living room. We used the VJ sheeting in one of the bedrooms which has 2 single beds so that it behaves as a bedhead when the beds are locked together to form a King bed.
The most amazing quartzite stone was sourced for the kitchen island bench. For a touch of luxury a white granite undermount sink was installed. Shaker profile cabinetry was finished in 2 pac with handle free doors and drawers. We applied this same profile as a casing around the existing rounded columns to maintain consistency of the hamptons feel of the apartment. An engineered calcutta style stone was used for the bathroom vanities. Chrome tapware was used throughout
New LED down lights were installed throughout the apartment. Ever mindful of the harsh salt air and its effect on metals we opted for rattan basket weave pendants to hang over the dining table.
The clients brought only a few existing pieces of furniture – counter stools, dining table and 2 swivel chairs. Our design team selected a gorgeous blue and white stripe outdoor fabric to reupholster the swivel chair covers. These sit upon a beautiful custom made wool carved pattern, 2 metre round rug with an american rope stool. This serves as the perfect spot for an afternoon Aperol Spritz!! The living room features 2 porcelain lattice coffee tables, large comfy sofas upholstered in a cool linen fabric, scatter cushions in complimentary neutral patterns, and an american oak buffet.
The clients love boating, so the main bedroom has a nautical theme. Simple black and white striped bed linen sets off the sepia nautical prints perfectly. Coral prints and antique seaweed prints adorn the walls of the remaining bedrooms, each specifically selected to work with wide grey and white stripe or blue and white pin stripe duvet covers. Our professional art hanger did an amazing job.
We loved this project so much. Working with good clients, great suppliers and in a location with a view that goes for days…..how could you not love this Mermaid Beach project!!!
